Once in awhile, not often, I come across a product and proceed to dream about owning it. That is how I came to contact sustainablebabyish | sloomb asking if they would be interested in a review/giveaway here at The Girl Is A Mom. Being the wonderful people that they are, they took pity on my obsessions with cloth diapers, indulging me in two of their amazing products.
Before I even got the products in the mail there were several things about sustainablebabyish | sloomb that stood out to me:
- Their website is lovely, well designed and easy. This is a huge factor for me when it comes to online shopping.
- Their ethos is simple and heartfelt. To bring customers sustainable and stylish eco friendly baby goods.
- They have partnered with Trees For The Future, for each diaper purchased a tree is planted in South East Asia.
- sloomb is also a fairly local company for me, based in Framingham, Ma, they openly invite visitors. Believe me, a visit to sustainablebabyish | sloomb would be like a cloth diapering mama's Disneyworld, I can not wait to meet them!
sloomb was generous enough to send Coraline and I one of their Organic Bamboo Fleece Fitteds. Look at how adorable these are. Made of super soft organic bamboo and cotton fleece with a cute contrasting stitching (ours is green). The fitted diaper comes with 1 double layer snap in soaker and 1 lay in soaker. I am going to tell you hands down, most absorbent fitted diaper I have ever used. We chose the Medium for Coraline a few months ago and it is still fitting albeit on the last snaps at this point (we hit a growth spurt). When we use this diaper during the day I simply snap in the soaker, for night time diapering I add the extra doubler. I have never had a leak with the sloomb fitted! That is saying quite a bit about the quality because even the most popular diapers in our stash have leaked at some point. Speaking of quality, it definitely shows through, the workmanship is outstanding. I mean that whole heartedly, outstanding. The sloomb fitted diaper washes well, I have been using it for months with no signs of wear. Like most other fitteds it can take a while to dry but of course the wait is worth it.
sloomb also sent Coraline a pair of their Knit Wool Longies, swoon! I don't even know where to begin telling you how amazing these pants are. Made from öko-tex certified yarns , they are double layered and super absorbent. They are oh-my-god-so-soft and breathable. These are pants that you are going to see in person and ask when sloomb is going to make some in big people sizes. We got the "carbon" color, which looks fantastic on Coraline. I can tell the pants are super comfortable because Coraline loves to wear them. I am most impressed with the way these pants do not stretch out. I have several other wool diaper covers for Cora and each of them gets stretched out faster then they actually need to be laundered. Not these, that is a stand out because I don't want to wash my wool too much. Another stand out for us is the sizing. I'm sure my regular readers all know that Coraline is wicked tall, measuring a whopping 33.3 inches a few days ago; she is in the 100th percentile for height. That means that her pants are usually either too big in the waist, falling down or too short in the legs, ready for a flood. Well sustainablebabyish | sloomb has answered my prayers by including a Medium-Long size! They fit perfectly.
With the addition of some fantastic new colors, I can not wait to add more sustainablebabyish | sloomb to our stash. i almost can't wait for her to outgrow her Wool Longies just so I can get another pair in a lovely new shade! How silly is that? So silly I could not have made it up. Another confession, when baby #2 is in our future, I'm going to use all sloomb fitted diapers for the newborn stage, that says a lot about a company.
Before I end, I want to address something I know many of you are thinking or going to be thinking if you haven't visited the site yet, price point. You are going to think that they are a little bit pricey, I know because that was what I thought also. I saw them at our local diaper store and thought, really, $64 dollars for baby pants? Even for organic wool soaker pants, come on. Then I had the pleasure of trying those pants, that is $64 well spent. Better yet, sustainablebabyish | sloomb is offering my readers 10% off! Take this opportunity to buy some of the best cloth diapers and wool around, I promise you that you will not be disappointed.
