Review: Erbaviva Lip and Cheek Balm

Before I had a baby I rarely gave too much thought to what when into a skin care product. A product was a product to me and I adore me some product. Then I had a baby with her brand new skin, super soft and smelly wonderful. Suddenly what I was putting on that became important. Now don't get me wrong, as I have said before we are by no means a "crunchy" household. We try our best though, lately we are trying even harder to pay attention to what we use and what we leave behind. I still have some wonderful products that are non organic but they come from high quality ingredients and companies I trust. Every once in awhile though, you come across a product and fall in love. That is the case with Erbaviva Organic Lip and Cheek Balm.

The Lip and Cheek Balm is part of Erbaviva's Baby Line. As with all of their products every ounce is certified organic by the USDA. That means a third party has verified that each ingredient is grown free from pesticides, artificial fertilizer or sewer sludge (we). This means a lot. This is not just a company calling something organic and marking up the retail price. Honest to goodness wholesome ingredients. Because there are currently no standard for organic skin care, Erbaviva makes everything to meet USDA organic food standards. Perfect for something that, lets face it, at some point will end up in your baby's mouth.

Since we are in the  middle of a New England winter, I chose to review the Organic Lip and Cheek Balm.  Made for chapped lips, cheeks and hands, it seemed perfect timing to try this out. The first thing i did when i received it was to put it on my own lips. I've been dealing with chapped lips all winter! I immediately felt the difference. Unlike your over the counter lip balm, this is not waxy at all. It made my lips really soft. It smells wonderful.

Ingredients:  Shea Butter, Beeswax,Sunflower Seed Oil, Jojoba, Lavender Oil, Chamomile Oil, Calendula Extract, Rosemary Extract.

After a test on myself as well as some reading on the ingredients I felt more then comfortable using it on Coraline. Cora's chin has been chapped for about a week. excessive drool + cold wind = red chapped chin. Within hours of putting the Erbaviva balm on, it had cleared right up. Unlike other products I have tried, this was not greasy. Coraline didn't mind at all that I have been putting it on her chin. She gets it on her lips when I give her kisses after my application :)

This has quickly become my favorite lip balm! I can not wait to try out the rest of their baby line, especially The Organic Baby Washbag, which is a soap free cleanser for sensitive baby skin, their first product.  Since i have just started to fully cloth diaper Coraline, my next step is cloth wipes. I have been collecting recipes for a d.i.y cloth wipes solution, most of which include essential oils. I'm happy to have found a great company where i can get everything i need to give my baby a happy healthy start!

Erbaviva was started 14 years ago by a husband and wife team. They wanted to products for babies and mamas that were natural, chemical free, gentle and safe. They have expanded their lines since that time and now they truly have products for the entire family.  Mom to Be gift sets would make great baby shower gifts, and i'm already sending my husband an hint with some things i would love for valentines day. Some Erbaviva bath salts and lotions, a few candles and a daddy watching the baby, sounds like a great gift to me.
