Review/Giveaway: Essential Swimwear
Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 2:15PM After having Coraline, looking for a swim suit was literally the last thing I wanted to do. While I was pregnant I had no problem flaunting my ever growing baby belly in a little bikini. It wasn't until my very last weeks of pregnancy when my stomach exploded in girth, that I also exploded in stretch marks. From the day I discovered I was pregnant at 5 weeks, until I gave birth, I slathered on coco butter like it was my job. No cream can prevent stretch marks, that much is tested and true. They say that it's genetic, which means I am the only woman in my family ever to have stretch marks. I am so very lucky. At this point, like a tattoo, they are a badge of honor. I worked hard for those and I have the most beautiful daughter in the world, that is more then balanced out. However, I don't exactly want to get into a bikini again.
Looking for a swimsuit is a pain in the ass, let's just be honest. No one wants to do that. With summer upon us, I did some pre shopping for all of you and found a great line of of swimsuits designed by a lady just like you! Tired of expensive swimsuits and tired of trying to find one that fit in all the right places, she started sewing her own. Brittney (the owner and designer) made swimsuits to fit hundreds of women each with a unique need and desire. From this she has gained the knowledge to create a line of affordable suits that fit the way most women want.
I was very honored that Brittney sent me one of her Essential Swimwear suits to test out. Essential Swimwear has swim tops, bottoms and skirts. I am a huge fan of the two piece suit that covers your stomach so I immediately knew this line was going to be fantastic. Not only do I love having a cute suit that will cover my belly, It makes customizing the size to fit your unique body that much easier.

I chose the try the Stary Night Halter top, which is a black with small white polka dots design. I thought the halter would be the most flattering for my body type and I think I was correct. The top has gathering along the sides which allows you to make it very gathered or minimally gathered over your stomach. It fits my bust really well and I could even breastfeed Cora with this top on. It was comfortable to move in, I never feel like I am going to fall out of it, a problem I was having with my old suits and my new larger breasts.
The bottoms I chose were the Black Hipster. Hipster bottoms are my favorite kind because they sit low on the hip but cover my butt completely. That is just what I personally like. Essential Swimwear also has a regular type bottom, and a skirted bottom. It really gives you the possibility to find a fit that is right for you.
Aside from the great fit and adorable designs, Essential Swimwear is totally affordable. The pieces are sold separately ranging from $18.99- $32.99, I think that is a great price for a suit that flatters your body and looks cute. Before having a baby, I would not think twice to spend over $100 on a swimsuit. Priorities being what they are, I don't think there are any expensive designer suits in my future. Which is probably for the best, I would much rather have a suit that fits well and is made by a thoughtful person who puts care into each design.

These suits look great! I have never been a bikini wearer myself. I promise I did go to the website and look around, but I like the same suit you chose!
Starry night halter top and the black hipster bottoms. Second choice would be the Vixen halter top.
I never win anything, but I'd be super-psyched if I won this!
