Review/Giveaway: EcoMom and Plum Organics

Something that I have always kept as a priority for Coraline is eating really great foods. I am not a picky eater but my husband is. There are so many foods that he will not eat will not try or doesn’t care for and it makes me sad that his taste is so limited. I’m not sure if that is born of what you eat as a child, but my educated guess is yes. As a kid I was given the opportunity to eat pretty much anything you can think of, at age 2 I was eating buckets of clams on the half shell by myself and by 4 I had added escargot as a favorite food. I would rather have a brussel sprout then a Doritos, which was true when I was little and it holds true today.  So when EcoMom.com gave me the opportunity to try Plum Organics, I was thrilled.

EcoMom is one of my new go to sites for all things organic, healthy and fun. They carry some of the best brands out there from green cleaning products, bath and body for the entire family, toys, books, clothing, cloth diapers and of course, food. Now, I’m not sure about you all, but I live in a city and still have a hard time finding really good food for Coraline to eat. Yes, I know I could make my own food at home but let me be brutally honest; I have a combination of no time for that and laziness. So for me, finding great foods for her becomes a quest of sorts. As she is getting older her tastes are changing and she is expanding her meals to a more complicated assortment of yumminess.

EcoMom was super kind and sent us the Plum Organics Sampler. The Organics Sampler included Pumpkin/Banana food, Spinach, Peach and Peas, Strawberry Banana Mish Mash, and Peach Mish Mash. The Mish Mash is a fruit puree in a smaller little bag, kids can eat it right from the “container” all by themselves, or it can be squirted out.

This food is super yummy! We love the fruit/vegetable mixes, especially the Spinach/Peas and Pears. I take bites of everything she eats before she gets to test it out, and I can say I would totally eat this. The Pumpkin/Banana is such a fun combination that I would probably never think to make myself but it totally works. The sweet mixed with the veggie, helps her to get a taste for some mixes. The ingredients on the back are just what you want them to be, nothing but the fruits or veggies they say are in there. How great is that?

Something else that stands out about the Plum Organics is the cute pouches they are sold in. I find the pouches way easier to store in our limited cabinet space, then say, the standard jars or plastic cups. It’s also less messy for feeding time; I can squirt some food out into a little dish and then reseal the pouch for storage in the refrigerator until the next meal. With the jars and cups and what not, I felt like there was always mess around the edges, you know.  Plum Organics/Revolution offer tons of great natural foods for all stages of your child’s life. I’m excited about the different snacks and meals Cora will get to try as she gets older, gets teeth and even as I start packing her lunch when she is off to school.

EcoMom has just revamped their entire site; it’s lovely and easy to navigate. I love browsing through things and thinking about what my next purchase might be. Something else that is new is the EcoPass program. For a $99 annual membership, the EcoPass gives you a 15% discount on all orders and free shipping with no minimum order required. This program sounds like something my family might be doing as a great cost savings. I think just in ordering Cora’s food we would save money with the 15% off and the $99 in membership will probably come out to less then we would spend on shipping for a year. Not to mention the fact that EcoMom has other products that we already order from other places online, like cloth diapers, all natural clothing, and some of the very best brands in baby bath products like Earth Mama Angel Baby, Sweet Knee and Say Yes to Carrots!
