Birthday Bash Review/Giveaway: Plan Toys from EcoMom
Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 6:01PM I have been holding back on this review for a while now because it is always my intent to give you really great content. I never want to just churn out reviews telling you over and over again "I was so excited to try such and such". Content is key for me and when I'm not feeling up to par on that front, I hold off. I know you all appreciate that!
So, onto the good stuff. You have heard over and over from me what a great store/company EcoMom is. They are a wonderful resource for the eco friendly mamas out there. When I am looking for great food, bath products, clothes, cloth diapers and toys, I always head to EcoMom first. Their EcoPass is a great way to save money, which I know we are all trying to do. For $99 per year, you receive a discount on all orders, free ground shipping on all orders as well as exclusive discounts and promotions throughout the year. That comes out to only $8.25 per month, not sure about you, but I spend well over that amount in shipping from various stores already.
EcoMom was kind enough to send Coraline the Plan Toys Sorting Bus, she was immediately thrilled with it. Plan Toys makes amazing products, some of the very best that you can give to you child. Not only are they an environmentally friendly company but they have won numerous awards for their toys. They are not only fun and awesomely made but educational. Production at Plan Toys is as sustainable as they can make it, using wood and eco friendly paints and materials. You can immediately see the quality and care that goes into each toy.

The Sorting Bus is one of our favorite toys even though Coraline is still a bit to young to actually sort the blocks. As you can see from the picture, the bus has shape slots and corresponding blocks that fit through. An adorable removable bus driver sits up front in his own round hole. Once all the blocks are collected inside the bus, you pull up on a little wooden block that sits on top of the bus; attached to a string it empties the shapes out the back. It is so much fun that adults have literally played with this toy at my house.
We have some other wooden toys that are on the cheaper spectrum cost and production wise and they don't compare to the Sorting Bus. The Bus can be pulled along by a string on the front or of course, pushed around by mama singing the Wheels On The Bus. What I personally like is that there is no squeaking like another wooden toy truck we have. It's a smooth ride for the bus driver. The colors are vibrate and well done, all of the corners are smooth. I can't do Plan Toys justice with words, you just have to see the toys in person to get the feel for the quality.
I do my very best to limit the amount of plastic toys we take into the house. Most of the few that we have are things I have gotten second hand from our local children's consignment store. For Coraline's 1st Birthday I want to add to our collection of high quality wooden toys, I am making my list for my EcoMom purchase already. If you are anything like our family, the price tag on the Plan Toys can be a bit shocking. It's hard to swallow the $30 price of the Sorting Bus, believe me, I feel the exact same way. Thanks to EcoMom I was given the opportunity to see the Plan Toys in action and because of that I know that it is literally one of the best purchases you can make in the world of toys. Trust me when I say, any of the Plan Toys will be things that you can someday watch your grandchildren play with.
