Our House!
Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 7:44AM At long last I can announce that we are finally closing on our house! We put in our offer in February.....yes, 5 months ago. It was a short sale which in fact means a super long, overly drawn out sale. All the frustration of paperwork and approvals is nearly behind us!
I stole this picture from Google because it is sunny and bright, much nicer then the pictures I have so far. This house is our dream, it is adorable right? Like our very own dollhouse. Our dream needs a ton of work however and our to-do list is growing longer daily. From stripping woodwork, tearing down wallpaper, to cleaning and painting every room. We believe the house has not been cleaned in years, which is sad, but we just can't wait to get into the house and start our work.
One issue with buying a fixer-upper at this point is of course that I am nearly 7 months pregnant at this point. There are tons of things that need to be done inside our new home that Coraline and I can not be present for. This is definitely going to pose a problem for getting work done before we move in. My poor husband will be spending time alone in the house stripping wood work and painting. Coraline and I have been packing the house all week, making a huge dent in what needs to be done in the apartment.
I don't want to post pictures of the inside of our house yet, because I only have the pictures that were with the listing. It does no justice to see the cluttered and messy belongings of the previous owner. I tell you that it is a 3 bedroom detached house, with one bathroom upstairs that needs to be gutted and redone. The attic is finished...well depending on your definition of "finished", we will be re-doing that as well. It has so much room, I am hoping our belongings all fit with tons of room to spare.
